This album is an early rising confidence booster needed to kick our winter into spring. With so much power in 11 fairly long songs, Frightened Rabbit are the energy you need in the morning and the memory you'll have at night. A prominent line (and song title) on the album, "swim until you can't see land," is scary at first, but inspirational later, especially if you feel like swimming to Scotland. The album works itself up into this caffeinated feeling for the first half, but it doesn't keep up the energy in the second (after "Nothing Like You"), which might be more appropriate for an afternoon nap, as the earlier sweeping arrangements and loud choruses start to calm down. The group have pretty harmonies, soaring guitars and crowd-themed percussion, but once the album is off, any day decisions are up to you.
