Hamilton's top "sliding Delta demento blues" duo Frankie & Jimmy introduced themselves to us back in September through a video for "Shake Your Hips." The pair are gearing up to release a full-length record, but not before the arrival of their Death Letter EP, which you can listen to first through Exclaim! right here.
Death Letter is said to be a teaser of what's to come from Frankie & Jimmy's upcoming full-length, and if the three-song release is anything to go by, it should be a collection of unabashed slide guitar blues with a heavy dose of grit. "Death Letter" and "Sweet Home Chicago" were recorded at the White House in the band's native Hamilton, while "St. James Infirmary Blues" was recorded in Ancaster, ON, alongside bassist Marc Baldassi and drummer Patrick Sirrs.
Frankie & Jimmy are also preparing for a tour of Western Canada this summer, on which they'll be bringing their homemade hot sauce to populate the merch table. After that, they'll be holed up in the studio come the fall to finish their forthcoming full-length.
Take a listen to the three-track Death Letter in the player below, through which you can also download it for free. You'll find Frankie & Jimmy's complete tour itinerary below as well.
