Barrie, ON-based indie five-piece Fox Jaws are quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. Along with performances at celebrated music fests such as North By Northeast and Pop Montreal, the group have shared the stage with the likes of Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes and the Constantines. And now, nearly two years after the independent release of well-received debut album Goodbye Doris, Fox Jaws are back, readying the release of their second full-length through Nevado Records.
The album is set to drop August 18 and will be titled At Odds (or, Exercises in Separation While United in the Fall). Band keyboardist Andrew Shropshire said of the album, "This is a little more of a rock album than our last project. Everyone has left their personal touch on each song... It's not a songwriter's album by any means, it's a cumulative work and a bit of a boozy drive down a back road at night with the headlights off."
Fox Jaws are currently streaming two songs off At Odds on their MySpace, and by the sounds of them, Shropshire isn't kidding around when when he says Fox Jaws have brought the rock.
Currently the group only have a pair of dates lined up - July 26 at Bayfield Mall in Barrie for Sunrise Records day and another hometown show on August 2 at Kempenfest - but we're guessing some proper touring action is right around the corner.
In the meantime, feel free to check out the group's recent appearance on Exclaim! TV over here.
