Remember when producer Kieran Hebden said his new Four Tet album would be out in early July? Luckily for fans, Morning/Evening has now arrived ahead of schedule and can be streamed or purchased right now.
As promised, Morning/Evening consists of two lengthy songs: "Morning Side" and "Evening Side," each of which is about 20 minutes song. They were recorded by Hebden between last August and this February. The official description explains, "This music was created on a laptop computer using the Ableton Live software to control and mix VST synthesizers and manipulations of found audio recordings."
Both cuts use Eastern-sounding vocal samples and twinkling electronics, but to very different ends. While the bulk of "Morning Side" is thudding dance groove, "Evening Side" is dreamy and sweetly soporific; that being said, the latter number eventually picks up the mood when it culminates in a clattering beat.
The album can be streamed below or purchased digitally on Bandcamp. CDs and vinyl will hit shelves on July 10 through Text Records.
