Foo Fighters

"Stiff Competition" (live on 'Letterman')

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 17, 2014

Dave Grohl and co. close out their week-long residency at The Late Show with David Letterman this evening, but last night (October 16) the Foo Fighters delivered their penultimate performance with some help from Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen.

Grohl moved to the back and took on drumming duties, while Taylor Hawkins sported his finest off-white suit (with no shirt, of course) and took over on lead vocals. Following the week's trend of iconic covers with the likes of Sabbath's "War Pigs," Heart's "Kick It Out" and Tony Joe White's "Polk Salad Annie," the band stormed through Cheap Trick's "Stiff Competition."

The Foos premiere their HBO series Sonic Highways tonight (October 17), with a new LP of the same name set to arrive on November 10. Check out their performance with Nielsen below.
