Earlier this week, we reported that beloved beatmaker Flying Lotus has working on multiple upcoming projects, including a jazz record, a Captain Murphy album and an Aqua Teen Hunger Force theme song. Now, we can add soundtracking an independent film to the list.
The film is the project of Trevor Nance and is called An Oversimplification of Her Beauty. Along with music from FlyLo, it features a little known rapper named Jay-Z as executive producer. Comedian Wyatt Cenac, actress Joy Bryant and journalist Dream Hampton are also listed as producers.
According to the film's director, the Flying Lotus connection came from just being a fan. "I was trying to meet Flying Lotus, my favourite musician right now," Nance wrote on the film's blog. "Myself, my brother Nelson…and one of my DP's Matthew Bray were successful. It was great connecting with — let me re-iterate — my favourite musician since Stevie Wonder."
