L.A. beatmaker Flying Lotus is preparing to release his much-anticipated album Until the Quiet Comes on October 2 through Warp. Now, the official first single from the new record has arrived in the form of a video for "Putty Boy Strut."
The quirky and minimal tune features a barebones arrangement that consists of a clip-clopping beat, a couple of wonky-sounding synths, and some bite-sized vocal samples. A bass enters partway through, but this is mostly a pretty low-key track.
As for the accompanying video, it was created by British animator Cyriak and is a futuristic clip about a robot that eats machines in a futuristic world. Eventually, the massive pile of machinery is wrapped in a cocoon and produces a robotic insect.
