Flaming Lips leader Wayne Coyne has previously explored the artistic potential of the iPhone by filming a music video for Ariel Pink (see below) and creating a song for four synced-up phones. Now, he's taken these experiments one step further by filming an entire feature-length film on his iPhone.
The 80-minute flick bears the very self-explanatory title of A Year in the Life of Wayne's Phone. It will premiere on March 13 at SXSW at the Ritz in Austin, TX. According to a description from the festival, the flick was compiled from more than 28 hours of personal footage (presumably spanning a year-long period). It is described as "the world's first vertical iPhone movie."
We're not sure what topics A Year in the Life of Wayne's Phone will cover, but the many clips Coyne has periodically posted on Twitter will probably give you some idea.
In other Flaming Lips news, the band are gearing up for the April 2 release date of The Terror via Warner Bros./Bella Union. They just premiered the threatening, noise-filled album opening track "Look... The Sun Is Rising" on NPR's All Songs Considered. Skip ahead to 34:15 to listen.
