The Flaming Lips

"Tasered and Maced" (ft. Ghostland Observatory)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 22, 2012

When the Flaming Lips give their collaborative double-LP The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends a widespread release on Tuesday (June 26), there will be one notable difference between it and the version that came out on Record Store Day: the Chris Martin collaboration has now been replaced by an unheard track with Ghostland Observatory. Now, the latter song has hit the web.

The track is called "Tasered and Maced," and it's a thoroughly weird tune that blends swirling electro-synth static with a spoken word story about getting in a brawl with the cops. It's not exactly the kind of song that's going to get stuck in your head, but it's every bit as peculiar as you'd expect from a team-up with the Flaming Lips and an electro-funk outfit.
