Fixmer/McCarthy

Between the Devil…

BY Mike AdairPublished Sep 1, 2004

Techno artist Terence Fixmer and former vocalist for Nitzer Ebb Douglas McCarthy collaborate here to create a seductively sinister album. Filled with elements that span from trance to industrial, the duo proves they have unique style. Seductive tracks like "Come Inside” and "Tight Fit,” are just a sample of the unsubtle sexual innuendo heard here. Other notable songs include "Splitter” and "You Want It,” featuring an onslaught of climaxing beats amongst McCarthy’s distinct vocals. This is definitely a light take on EBM, with an atmosphere that is fantastically unique and murky — a release that is both mood and club music in one package. Those looking for a recreation of Nitzer Ebb should be wary however. This release is not a reunion. Instead, this is an entirely new entity, which is really something to be thankful for, given the mediocrity spewing forth from other resurfacing industrial giants.
