Fight Amp

Manners And Praise

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Mar 22, 2010

If Coliseum ripped off Fugazi and featured former members of Kyuss, they might sound like the total sonic wrecking ball that is Fight Amp. A vicious mix of aggressive d-beat hardcore, DC post-punk and stoner sludge, Manners and Praise is a heavy, varied album that veers from one extreme to another, holding shit together with some excellent production and disturbingly thunderous low-end rumble. While "Bad Listener I" initially hints at a punk pedigree behind the wailing, "Time Is Money" immediately follows and goes all Heavy Metal Parking Lot on your ass. The remainder of the record touches on all that, plus some serious late-era Black Flag territory, mixing dissonant vocals and pure, calculated hardcore mayhem. This record will try to hurt you.
