Faust Again

The Trial

Formed in 1999, Poland's Faust Again are one of metal's hidden gems, and they aren't receiving the recognition they deserve. For those not too fond of a lot of unnecessary bullshit in their death metal/hardcore, such as overused keyboards, harmonies, singers who think they can sing/growl but can't, pick up The Trial, which is, dare I say, a gritty, bare-bones, raw but professionally produced kick-ass album. If front-man Marcin Pysora is never recognized for his bottomless, gravelly roar (he sounds like Asphyx's Martin van Drunen, but younger and healthier) it would be a damn shame. It is the unrelenting tension he brings to "The Fountain," which stays with the listener until the epic "The End," that makes Faust Again's third full-length a definite contender for heavy rotation.
