We're just over a year removed from taking in Father John Misty's Pure Comedy, and if some internet sleuthing is to be believed, a follow-up effort will arrive sooner than we think.
Reddit users have dug up an Apple Music preview page that points to a new FJM album titled God's Favorite Customer arriving June 1 through Sub Pop. You can find the album artwork above, and the tracklist below.
The Apple page follows the discovery of a French Amazon listing by Reddit users yesterday (April 16).
Ten tracks in length, the album features the recently released track "Mr. Tillman," in addition to other titles like "Hangout at the Gallows," "Please Don't Die" and "We're Only People (And There's Not Much Anyone Can Do About That)."
Speaking with Uncut last year, the musician born Josh Tillman described the Pure Comedy follow-up as "a heartache album," adding that he wrote the bulk of it in a six-week period "when I was kind of on the straits." He also named Jonathan Rado as the producer at the time.
The Uncut piece also called Tillman's forthcoming LP as "the real I Love You, Honeybear, but without the cynicism," with the musician calling the claim "mutilated dadist refrigerator poetry."
God's Favorite Customer:
1. Hangout at the Gallows
2. Mr. Tillman
3. Just Dumb Enough to Try
4. Date Night
5. Please Don't Die
6. The Palace
7. Disappointing Diamonds Are the Rarest of Them All
8. God's Favorite Customer
9. The Songwriter
10. We're Only People (And There's Not Much Anyone Can Do About That)
