It's been a good six years since experimental metal supergroup Fantômas dished out a release, with the Mike Patton-equipped project's being 2005's Suspended Animation. So it's good news that the outfit are set to drop another release. If you were hoping for some new tunes, however, the upcoming concert set The Director's Cut Live: A New Year's Revolution will come as a bit of a disappointment. The rest of us, however, are ready to have our minds melted.
The concert performance, which was recorded at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall on December 31, 2008, will be released as both a DVD and an online-only audio download. The set reprises the troupe's terrifying 2001 masterwork The Director's Cut, which reworked a number of classic movie themes. The new release also finds Fantômas taking a crack at Al Green's "Simply Beautiful" and T. Rex's "Chariot Choogle." You can check out the set list below.
