Mark E. Smith may be playing shows from a wheelchair, but things are apparently looking up for the Fall. Today, word came that Smith's seminal train wreck of a band have inked a deal with Domino, the distinguished UK label home of Animal Collective, Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand.
According to the Quietus, when the website asked Smith about the recent rumours that the Fall would be releasing their next album on Domino, he "replied in the affirmative," adding that the label would put out the yet-untitled new Fall album in June. Smith told the publication that an album-and-a-half of material is already recorded and that the Fall are currently in the studio wrapping up the record. But while a Fall record seems eminent, when asked if there would be another Von Sudenfed album, Smith's Domino-released project with Mouse on Mars, he "replied in the negative."
Domino has not issued any public statement about signing the Fall, but the Quietus reports that the label has confirmed to the website that it is indeed releasing the new Fall record.
So there you have it: Fall + Domino.
