Extra Golden Seek Help From Fans

BY Dave SynyardPublished Jan 11, 2008

As Kenya’s political situation worsens, Opiyo Bilongo, Onyango Wuod Omari and Onyango Jagwasi, three members of Extra Golden, who hail from Nairobi, have made a plea for help to aid their extended families, whose collective well being is being threatened by the country’s currently volatile climate. The three members are looking to fans for donations in their time of need.

As musicians, they earn their living playing gigs at clubs and other venues. Due to the dusk-to-dawn curfew currently in place, they’ve been unable to work and are living hand-to-mouth. They’ve been forced to leave their homes, which have since been looted, while their families have little to no food or clean water. With the country’s bleak political outlook, it’s unknown when they’ll be able to resume playing or return to their homes.

Donations of any amount can be made by going to Paypal.com and choosing "send money.” When asked to enter the email address of the recipient, enter service@kanyokanyo.com.
