When it was first reported that Alex Varkatzas would part ways with Atreyu, the outgoing vocalist expressed a desire to shred in new "super-heavy" project. On the day that his old band's new album Baptize arrives, Varkatzas has now shared a sneak peek at his new outfit.

On social media, Varkatzas has announced the launch of a new project called Dead Icarus, with ties to record label Modern Empire Music. A brief Instagram clip captioned "Life is short. Time to shred!" finds the vocalist teasing, "The Fall is coming."

While other details on Dead Icarus remain slim, you can find the project's logo above. In terms of musical direction, Varkatzas previously shared, "I'm thinking Blood Has Been Shed, meets a little In Flames, with a bit of the old Lamb of freaking God thrown in on top."

Atreyu noted upon Varkatzas' departure last September that the split was amicable, writing in a statement, "There's nothing but love and respect for each other, and we can't wait to see what he will come up with next. Stay tuned for his upcoming projects and we all wish him success and fulfillment with all his future endeavors."
