After reports of the vocalist's departure surfaced last month, Atreyu have confirmed their split with co-founder and frontman Alex Varkatzas.
Writing in a statement that "a time of change has come for all of us," the band shared, "Alex Varkatzas is sailing off on a ship of his own, and will part ways with Atreyu."
The band noted that the split is amicable, writing that Varkatzas "will not disappear, and neither will Atreyu. There's nothing but love and respect for each other, and we can't wait to see what he will come up with next. Stay tuned for his upcoming projects and we all wish him success and fulfillment with all his future endeavors."

Upon initial reports of Varkatzas's departure in August, the vocalist did not confirm or deny he had left Atreyu, but did express that he has "so much creative energy" to expend on a new project.
Varkatzas also shared that he was a new father, writing on Instagram last month, "I think it's time to check out of the gram for a bit and spend time with my darlings...I wish you all peace and power. If you need me, you know how to get at me. I promise to not be gone long...."
Atreyu's most recent album remains 2018's In Our Wake.
