Evy Jane opened a fun-filled day at the beach, but these early slots will be soon be a rare, if ever, occasion for the Vancouver duo. Despite experiencing vicious hangovers, hence their dark sunglasses, songstress Evelyn Mason and beatsmith Jeremiah Klein powered through to showcase the massive crossover potential of their sound. Slinking around in a poncho, Mason's voice came across even more haunting and visceral live than on their eponymous debut EP, while Klein teased out their vinyl static-laced noiR&B beats to eerie perfection. If this set was any indication, all signs point to Mason entering popular consciousness as a trip-hop diva, somewhere between Kelli Ali (Sneaker Pimps) and Beth Gibbons (Portishead), while Klein's production deserves the kind of accolades currently given to the Weeknd.
