As the final release by New Jersey pop punk heroes the Ergs!, this twelve-inch is understandably permeated by a sense of loss for any fan of the band. No requiem could be more appropriate for the Ergs! than one that tackles subjects of love, love lost and the perils of palaeontology. Toss that eulogy on top of three sugary, lo-fi pop punk sing-alongs and you've effectively summed up an incredible career in punk rock. "Anthem for a New Amanda" is as catchy as anything the band have ever written, and the heartfelt "...And The True Believers" has the listener instantly missing this band before the twelve-inch is even half over. The Ergs! arrived right on time and brought pop punk back to the basement and into the loving hands of the bespectacled. One has to wonder what these guys will be up to post-Ergs!, but one thing remains certain: they've encouraged and inspired countless bands, and their impact will be lasting. Thanks, guys.
