Emery

The Weak's End

BY Stuart GreenPublished Feb 1, 2004

Oh what hell hath Thursday unleashed? Ever since their brand of melodic screamo became a marketable commodity, bands that blend blistering mid-tempo chug rock and emotional themes have been surfacing by the dozens. Emery is one of the few deserving of a second look. Like label-mates Further Seems Forever, this Seattle by way of North Carolina sextet isn’t satisfied with mediocre music to serve as a back drop for their introspective and heartfelt lyrics. Although not as mathematical as FSF, Emery incorporates a full-time keyboardist to round out the moody atmospherics of their rock. In a crowded genre, Emery manages to stand out.
