Dublex Inc.

Eight Ears

Dublex Inc. is a German foursome with a feel for jazz and house. For their first full-length album, they present us with a good variety of funky tracks. "Nifty Night” is exactly that, with its orchestral stabs and break beats; it’s a perfect house track. On the flipside are slower numbers, like the slow and sexy "Don’t Make Me Want You” and "Boogie Boil,” a grooving breaks track with a little acid in the background. The most energetic tracks are "Tocame,” with its Spanish female vocals, and "Slack Society,” a zippy jazz number. There are occasional reggae influences too, especially in "Sound of the Ebu.” Overall, they’ve tackled and assimilated many different influences, without sounding formulaic or cheesy.
