For those who have been craving great old-school riff rock, Drunk Horse has what it takes to satisfy you. The Oakland-based quartet's teaming of Black Sabbath dirge and Lynyrd Skynyrd Southern-fried boogie metal sounds like it could have been recorded in the 1970s but for the hilarious lyrics of classical music student Eli Eckert who offers piss takes on everything from male prostitution to CIA drug activity. Eckert also puts his schooling to good use to create some symphonic guitar lines. And with just one of the nine tracks clocking in under four minutes, there's plenty of riff wizardry to satisfy the most discriminating wank and twang addict.
