Athens, GA-based Southern rock group Drive-By Truckers have announced a new album, Welcome 2 Club XIII, due out June 3 via ATO.
They've also shared the album's title track alongside a music video. The single, which pays homage to the titular club in Muscle Shoals, is a measured slab of Southern-fried nostalgia, with lyrics containing all the wit and candour any DBT fan should expect.
Speaking further in a press release, vocalist Patterson Hood said:
There were no cool bars in town and Club XIII was the best we had, but it wasn't all that good, and our band wasn't particularly liked there. From time to time the owner would throw us a Wednesday night or let us open for a hair-metal band we were a terrible fit for, and everyone would hang out outside until we were done playing. It wasn't very funny at the time, but it's funny to us now.
The band is also kicking off an extensive North American tour, which will include two Ontario dates in April. See the schedule below, alongside the video for "Welcome 2 Club XIII" and the album's tracklisting.
