Fire Took the Firefighter is a mixture of several key, and what might be considered opposing, elements. From the gentle boy/girl vocals of "A Circle in a Circle of Looks to the hand clap action of "The Best Of Friends Well Always Be, Fire
has its share of poppy moments. Immediately opposite these happy sounds, however, are the brutally heavy scream-alongs of tracks like "Matchbox Memories and the more technical element present in songs like "Plan Your Escape. By balancing each of these elements, the band are able to create a fluid and diverse musical experience, not entirely unlike such bands as Moneen and At The Drive-In. By maintaining a sense of earnestness and conviction all their own, Drawing a Day have managed to produce a bold debut, sure to earn them the respect they deserve.
