Drake Producer Noah "40" Shebib Weighs in on Ghostwriting Claims, Meek Mill Clarifies Statement

Coming off of recent claims made by Meek Mill that Drake used a ghostwriter for his guest spot on a recent track with the Philly MC, producer Noah "40" Shebib has made a statement to clarify that Drake writes his own rhymes.

Mill started up the whole debacle earlier in the week through his Twitter account, implying in a series of messages that Drake has another scribe supply the lyrics to his guest spot on Dreams Worth More Than Money track "R.I.C.O." He added that "if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album."

Following this, an early version of Drake's own "10 Bands" featuring reference bars from collaborator Quentin Miller surfaced on Funkmaster Flex's radio program, with the implication being that Miller may have penned lyrics for Drake. It should be noted that Miller is credited on the track, as well as on "R.I.C.O."

The fallout of this has lit up Twitter, and found a Toronto city councillor telling Meek Mill that he was no longer welcome in the 6. But now an insider from Team Drizzy has stepped up to try and debunk the ghostwriting claims. 40's multitude of tweets notes that he's put in a lot of time working with Drake in the studio, ballparking it around "5000 hours," so he has plenty of perspective on the matter. He states that no one should "ever question my brother's pen," and praises Drake's vision as an MC and an artist.
Shebib added that the whole argument was "crazy," considering how Drake's style is especially personal. "You're smokin that shit you say you selling if you think someone wrote that shit," he alluded to the ghostwriting claims.
Meek Mill, meanwhile, clarified his position during a show with Nicki Minaj last night (July 22) in Bristow, VA. During his set, he told the crowd "if you want to be labeled as the motherfucking best, you gotta be putting that motherfucking pen down all the motherfucking time." He added, "I was just upset as a fan that a nigga gave me a verse that he [Drake] didn't write. Shout out to Drake. Let him be great in all the motherfucking lanes he great in. But I'm gon' still be the realest nigga in this bitch!"
