When Gang Starr rapper Guru passed away last April, there was much drama surrounding his death and the way in which his public image was being handled. Now, there's continued controversy, as Guru's Gang Starr partner, DJ Premier, has lashed out at mainstream hip-hop media for not giving proper homage and respect to the influential Guru.
As fansite the DJ Premier Blog points out [via The Daily Swarm], the producer has written a half-page rant including bits about the media's sad neglect of Guru's postmortem, the rappers/publications that did give props, and a new collaboration between Premier and Fat Joe that pays homage to the Gang Starr rapper.
