Dita Von Teese — the well-known burlesque dancer, model and actress — has come forward with her own statement about the allegations of abuse lodged against her ex-husband, Marilyn Manson.
In response to claims of various forms of "horrific" abuse by Evan Rachel Wood, as well as four other women, Von Teese has shared that the "details made public do not match my personal experience during our seven years together as a couple."
Von Teese explained in an Instagram post that she left Manson in 2007, not because of any form of abuse, but due to "infidelity and drug abuse."
Instead of offering solidarity with her ex-husband's alleged victims, Von Teese signed off her statement saying, "I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself."
Since the first wave of allegations was made public on Monday (February 1), Manson's ex-fiancée, Rose McGowan, has come forward with a statement of solidarity with his accusers, while his former guitarist, Limp Bizkit's Wes Borland, has also spoken out in support of the alleged victims.
Last night, Trent Reznor (who signed Manson to his Nothing label in 1994) offered his own statement [via Pitchfork], wherein he denounces Manson entirely: "I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago."
Reznor also addressed passages from Manson's autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, in which he paints Reznor as an abuser. Reznor has also denied those claims, calling them "a complete fabrication."
Thus far, no formal charges have been laid against Manson, though according to TMZ, he was paid a visit by the LAPD last night after a friend asked them to perform a wellness check because they "were worried something may have happened to him" after they didn't hear from the artist for a few hours.
As previously reported, Manson was dropped by his record label this week as a result of the abuse claims and has also been cut from upcoming TV appearances on American Gods and Creepshow.
Manson has denied all claims and issued the following statement on Tuesday (February 2):
Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality. My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and why — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.
