The Dismemberment Plan Announce Reunion, Reissue Expanded Emergency & I

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 13, 2010

Outside of a short-lived reunion in 2007, celebrated post-punks the Dismemberment Plan have been inactive since 2003. That's about to change, however, as the foursome have announced that they will reunite for a handful of shows in support of a reissue of their seminal LP, Emergency & I.

The reunion currently only includes five shows, all on the U.S. east coast in January, 2011. More shows aren't out of the question, however; bassist Eric Axelson told The Washington Post, "We're doing these shows and taking it day to day after that."

Although he emphasized that a new album isn't on the cards, the group will be releasing an expanded version of 1999's Emergency & I. A double LP, it will include the remastered twelve-song record plus four B-sides. It will come out via Barsuk Records on 180-gram vinyl with gatefold packaging and detailed liner notes.

This will be the first time the album has beenmade available on vinyl. It will hit shelves on January 11.

In a post on the band's official website, Axelson wrote, "The music was re-mastered from the original 1/2-inch tapes, keeping it analog every step of the way." He added, "We're very excited for everyone to hear the re-masters - they sound so good!"
