Derailers

Genuine

Can music ever be truly cool when delivered by someone who is at most 12 months away from their next prostate exam? Does that matter when the songs sound like Jimmy Buffett and Travis Tritt did some Wet and went into the studio to record a rock/honky tonk album? These questions keep coming up as you listen to the Derailers’ latest release Genuine. The album is a rockin’ backcountry affair that offers more than competent instrumentation, but runs a little heavy on the Chattahoochee side of things. But if that’s what you’re into, this disc has some tunes that’ll shake the confederation flag right off your living room wall. So, while it lacks originality and any basic form of musical innovation, at least the Derailers do what they do well.
