Texas is associated with being big (i.e., Texas toast) and bad (i.e. "Texas kicks ass bumpers stickers). Dallas, TXs Deathray Davies are certainly big, with six members in the line-up for their third album, The Day of The Ray (though a recent tour saw them hit the road with five people). As for being bad, I don't know if they'll kick your ass, but they might make you shake it. They really get a good thing going on in songs like the lead track "Is This On?," where the they lock into a choppy guitar, pounding drum thing played over a party rocking keyboard groove. Like the spices that really bring together a good Texas chilli, the warm keyboard tones are the secret ingredient making this a good Texan indie rock band.
