Featuring three members of Overcast, Death Ray Vision will undoubtedly be compared to that seminal metalcore band. However, the music contained herein is far more simplistic than the members' initial foray into the scene. Of course, most prominent amongst these players are Brian Fair (Shadows Fall) and Mike D'Antonio (Killswitch Engage), but those looking for some Swedish, death-inflected metalcore will be sorely disappointed. Instead, Get Lost or Get Dead is more straightforward hardcore, with most of the metal influence coming in the form of a Pantera groove. To put it simply, the "breakdown" referenced here is far closer to the NYHC brand than the lower-E string abusing metalcore staple of late. Fair's signature vocals are recognizable, while the music provides a far better vehicle for delivery than any recent Shadows Fall material. Although this EP first dropped in 2011, this re-release will undoubtedly give it far greater reach, and the music has aged well. Now, we just need the full-length to drop.
