Pachyderm punk pop pair Death From Above 1979 have revealed they'll be playing a couple of headlining shows in their hometown of Toronto next week, just ahead of the release of their reunion LP, The Physical World.
Though the whereabouts of the gigs are thus far unknown, the duo have confirmed that the shows take place September 3 and 4, before their appearance at Riot Fest later in the week. The performances were first hinted at during a Reddit chat yesterday (August 27), where they revealed, "We're playing some small shows next week in Toronto, as well as Riot fest up at Downsview."
Adding further proof, today the duo tweeted out a modified version of their iconic Mach 2.0 elephant trunk logo with a T-dot cityscape blended into the background, which you can see up above.
Down below, you'll find the band's global itinerary, which also includes a stop in Laval, QC.
As previously reported, The Physical World arrives September 9 via Last Gang. You can check out the recently unveiled "Government Trash" down below after the tour dates.
UPDATE: DFA 1979 have confirmed they will play two intimate shows in Toronto on September 3 and 4 at 952 Queen St. W. The press release promises, "The pop-up shop will feature special limited edition items unavailable anywhere else, and fans who come early can sign up to get some fresh ink – free! More surprises are expected to be announced. Doors open at 10am. We can't tell you everything, but suffice to say, you will not want to miss these very special events."
