Death from Above 1979 have kept their touring schedule relatively light in 2013, but the noisy rock duo plan to close out the year with a bang. They've just announced plans to play a hometown gig in Toronto on Boxing Day (December 26).
While it's possible that more gigs will be added to make this part of a tour, the Toronto date at the Danforth Music Hall currently looks to be a one-off. DFA1979 previously implied that they were done playing shows for the year.
A rather cryptic press release reads, "Where are they now? Who knows. Where will they be on December 26th 2013? At The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto to celebrate the death of another year. Where will they be in 2014? Another mystery to feed the funeral pyre."
Tickets go on sale this Friday (October 25) at 10 a.m. local time. They cost $39.50 and will be available from Ticketmaster, Rotate This and Soundscapes.
DFA1979's Sebastien Grainger recently shed some light on the band's planned new album. "I don't know when the record will be done, so I can't really speak specifically on details in that regard," Grainger told Exclaim! "We're still working on the material... it'll be done when it's done. It could be in three weeks, it could be three months."
