Death From Above 1979

"Trainwreck 1979"

Toronto duo Death From Above 1979 have been teasing their comeback album The Physical World for a long, long time, but aside from some minor samples we've yet to hear a full song until today.

The group premiered the album's debut single "Trainwreck 1979" via Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 program. The song kicks off as anyone would it expect it to, complete with heavy fuzz bass, pounding drums and Sebastien Grainger's croon. By the time the chorus hits, however, they demonstrate new sonic depth with bright pianos and plenty of back-up vocals. Consider it an alt-rock anthem.

Listen to "Trainwreck 1979" by skipping ahead to the one hour, 52 minute mark here.

The Physical World will arrive on September 9 via Last Gang.
