Following a few smaller releases, grungy Vancouver trio Dead Soft are finally ready to take the full-length plunge. Their self-titled album is due out on August 30 through Kingfisher Bluez, and it's available to stream ahead of time on Exclaim.ca.
The nine songs were recorded with Jordan Koop (the Courtneys, You Say Party) at his Noise Floor studio on Gabriola Island, BC. They are fuzzy and hard-hitting in delivery, yet there are sweet melodies and catchy hooks at the heart of the tunes.
There are some watery, jangling tones in tracks like "Death Is at My Door," "Emergency" and "Come Back." These sounds, however, are inevitably overtaken by scorching fuzz. Hear it all below.
Dead Soft will play a release party with the Courtneys, War Baby and Mosfett on August 21 at Vancouver's Cobalt. Then later this month, they will appear at this month's Victory Square Block Party in Vancouver on August 31 with Tough Age, Cool, the Shilohs and more.
