Dead Icons

Condemned

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published Jan 24, 2012

Dead Icons bear an uncanny resemblance to This Is Hell, both sonically and chronologically. Both bands began their careers by self-booking large tours before Josh Grabelle (owner of Bullet Tooth and formerly, Trustkill Records) signed them. Condemned is Dead Icons' first full-length and similar to This Is Hell's Sundowning, the band's infancy belies how truly good they are. Hardcore has never really been an old folk's game, but this release should smash the beliefs of elitists who think that everything good came out before they were born. On tracks such as "The Longer You Wait" and the appropriately named "True Potential," the band exhibit the aggressiveness of their predecessors, but not without a healthy dose of excellent songwriting. If This Is Hell's decision to become master puppeteers disappointed you and you don't have much faith in Terror's latest offering, Condemned may give you something worth yelling about.
