David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to reunite for a new season of The X-Files, but alien-hunters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully have already got together for a different purpose: to perform a cover of Neil Young's "Helpless." This onstage get-together happened last night (May 12) at the Cutting Room in New York.
Lead vocals on this faithful country rock cover are handled by Duchovny, and Anderson chimes in during the choruses. The whole thing is slightly awkward, as it features ungainly dancing, a fist-bump, and a quick kiss between the stars. Let's be honest — X-Files devotees will probably be more excited about the kiss than they are about the music.
Watch it below, along with a snippet of the two performing Sly & the Family Stone's "Thank You." The footage is fan-shot, but "Helpless" is fairly high quality.
This show was in support of Duchovny's new album Hell or Highwater, which came out this week on ThinkSay Music.
