Das Racist

"Teenage Dream" (Heems remix)

Though it's tough to admit, Katy Perry's summer jam "Teenage Dream" is the kind of enduring pop song that displays some charm despite being likely spawned in a sinister boardroom somewhere. With that at mind, we will jump at any excuse to listen to it without actually listening to the real thing. Late last year, Foxes in Fiction caught our attention with his lo-fi cover, and now Das Racist dude Heems has jumped on a chopped and screwed remix of the track.

Anyone who follows Heems on Twitter knows he's got a keen sense of humour, so he's the perfect candidate to drop lyrics over the track. While he doesn't really offer much more than his usual non-sequiturs and goofy shout-outs, he shines over top of the melodic jam. Meanwhile, Perry's vocals resemble Ozzy Osbourne in their slowed-down state, so it's just lovable weirdness all around.
