Danzig Announces Legacy Tour Dates, 'Essential' Best-Of

Hot on the heels of this week's announcement that long-running spooky pop punks the Misfits will be unleashing their first set of new songs since the '90s, the troupe's former frontman Glenn Danzig has announced he will be dusting off some of the act's crypt kickers on an upcoming string of shows.

A press release explains that the legendary metal crooner will be playing a handful of shows this fall that will celebrate his long and illustrious career. That means he will be dishing out ditties from his Misfits period, as well as his brief tenure in the less appreciated Samhain, and any number of bangers from his lengthy solo career.

We're totally speculating, but we're hoping he somehow segues from "Angelfuck" into "Archangel." Unfortunately, there aren't any Canadian dates listed yet.

Consequence of Sound reports that not only will he be highlighting his past, former Misfits guitar slinger Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will be playing on stage as well.

Further celebrating his back catalogue, Danzig will be issuing a greatest-hits compilation, The Essential Danzig, on October 25 via Sony. A tracklisting has yet to appear, but we can at least expect the original version of "Mother" to be on there, if not the popular live version from Thrall: Demonsweatlive.

Regrettably, there is still no word on when we will be hearing his previously announced covers album.

Tour dates:

10/7 Chicago, IL - Congress Theatre (Riot Fest)

10/29 New York, NY - Hammerstein Ballroom

10/31 Universal City, CA - Gibson Ampitheatre

11/4 Austin, TX - Fun Fun Fun Fest
