Last month, we learned that Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles songwriter Daniel Rossen was going it alone for a new solo EP called Silent Hour/Golden Mile. The tunesmith first offered up the dark and dour piano ballad "Saint Nothing" to tease the set, but the second leaked track, "Silent Song", spruces up his spirits tenfold.
While inflections of folk have always crept into Rossen's songbook, the new number sends the songwriter deep into Canyon Country via rustic acoustic guitar sweeps, bright bottleneck slide guitar runs and a lazy back-porch thump. The tune, however, is still imbued with his characteristically ethereal and haunting vocal harmonies.
Check it out below.
As previously reported, Silent Hour/Golden Mile arrives March 20 through Warp.
