Having inked a record deal with Normaltown Records, Canadian folk favourite Daniel Romano is ready to unleash his next solo record. Entitled Come Cry with Me, it's due out on January 22 and will be promoted with plenty of Canuck shows.
The album was self-produced and the songwriter played most of the instruments himself. A press release explains, "Romano's vintage country vibe and easy way with storytelling shine like the rhinestone-studded suits of country legend." So that would explain the dapper outfit that the mustachioed Romano is wearing on the album cover, which you can see above.
Certainly, Lead single "Middle Child" sounds very much like a classic country ballad. In a statement, Romano explained that this twangy tale of childhood abandonment and alcoholism is based on the true story of a longtime friend. Take a listen at the bottom of the page.
Romano and his backing band the Trilliums will spend the remainder of 2012 playing shows in Ontario before touring Canada in the new year with Whitehorse. See the schedule below.
