Just yesterday (September 25), we learned that Big Sugar frontman Gordie Johnson's prized banjo had gone missing. Now, yet another Canadian musician has become the victim of instrument theft, as Dan Mangan + Blacksmith guitarist Gordon Grdina has lost his guitar after the band's van was broken into.
The incident occurred last night while group were in Hamburg, Germany, where they are playing the Reeperbahn Festival. Above, see a photo of the guitar along with a shot of the rental van's broken window.
The axe is a 1968 Gibson ES 125 TC with the serial number 846907.
UPDATE (9/28, 10:57 a.m.): Grdina's guitar has been located.
Meanwhile, Mangan is going on a solo tour of Western Canada this fall.

In addition to being Mangan's longtime guitarist, Grdina is a prolific Vancouver musician who plays in projects like Gordon Grdina Trio, Peregrine Falls, Haram and Qalandar. Earlier this year, Exclaim! interviewed Grdina as part of our cover story on Dan Mangan + Blacksmith.
