The news was confirmed to Exclaim! by Derek Emerson, one of the authors of the book Tomorrow Is Too Late: Toronto Hardcore Punk in the 1980s. He knew Good personally, and was informed of the news by Sadies bassist Sean Dean.
Dallas Good co-fronted the Sadies along with his brother Travis. The band formed in the mid-'90s, going on to release numerous albums and become a Canadian music institution. Their debut album, Precious Moments, came out in 1998, and their most recent album was 2017's Northern Passages. The band have appeared on the cover of Exclaim! twice. They also released a number of collaborative projects over the years, including albums with Gord Downie, Neko Case, Andre Williams, John Doe and Jon Langford.
Good also belonged to the supergroups the Unintended and Phono-Comb, and played bass with Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. He was the son of Bruce Good, of long-running bluegrass group the Good Brothers, and musician Margaret Good.
Good is survived by his parents, his wife Amanda Schenk, brother Travis, and more members of the musical Good Family.
The Sadies were still active, and earlier this month performed at Guelph's Hillside Inside festival.
This is a developing story.
