British punk legends Crass are having a big look back with a new reissue project. Called The Crassical Collections, the newly announced set will feature all six of the band's studio albums, as well as a whole lot more.
The Crassical Collections come out October 2 via One Little Independent Records, and in addition to gathering up all of the band's studio efforts, it will include their 1986 compilation Best Before 1984, plus previously unreleased bonus tracks.
The set will include new artwork by longtime collaborator Gee Vaucher, fold-out posters and a 60-page booklet of lyrics, as well as "extensive liner notes from band members Penny Rimbaud and Steve Ignorant, which shed light on the making of the records."
Each of the Crass's studio albums will be presented as two-disc sets, with the first of each featuring a remastered version of the album while the second disc will contain associated rarities and live tracks.
The albums included are Stations of the Crass, Feeding of the Five Thousand (The Second Sitting), Penis Envy, Christ – The Album, Yes Sir, I Will and Ten Notes on a Summer's Day.
The compilation Best Before 1984, which marks their seventh and final release in 1986, was also remastered.
"Number seven — the one that almost got away," said the band's Penny Rimbaud in a statement. "This final Crassical Collection double CD re-mastered by Alex Gordon and Penny Rimbaud at Abbey Road Studios in 2018 contains the original album plus a further album's worth of related material; good, bad and indifferent. Half the band want it out, while the other half wanted out, but hey, here it is in all its glory."
