Cornelius is one of Japan's most respected and innovative musicians. His latest album, Point (Matador), is a atmospheric, mood driven exercise in pop panache. He will be touring North America this spring.

Most memorable or inspirational gig and why?

A Kamen Rider (like Power Rangers) show when I was a child. I was kidnapped by the monsters.

What has been your career high and low?

I don't really have either high or low times in my career.

What should everyone shut up about?

There are a lot of things. Working with this industry involves a lot of interviews (questions) and I think that doing these can sometimes be difficult.

What trait do you like and dislike most about yourself?


What would make you kick someone out of your band and/or bed, and have you?

I'm mainly by myself (no band members), and I would never kick someone out of my bed!

When I think of Canada I think:

I went to Canada (Montreal) when I was a child. We stayed at Chateau Frontenac. I saw car accident and saw a person get hit by a car and getting tossed off. That's what I think, when I think of Canada.

What is your vital daily ritual?

I take a bath in the morning (and never at night).

How do you spoil yourself?

Sleeping in.

What was your most memorable day job?

Working at the art gallery and backing people off when they got too close to the paintings.

No one specific. I like to eat alone.

She loves me, so whatever I decided to do.
