A month on from sharing an anti-coal anthem in opposition to Alberta's mountain mining proposal, Corb Lund has announced plans to head "Back to the Barrooms" on a 2022 Canadian tour.
Next January and February, Lund and his band will play 20 dates in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Real country outlaws will note the tour's name and illustrated graphic (seen above) pay homage to Merle Haggard's 1980 album.
"We figured our first outing back should be a tour of small bars in Canada; I started out my career in many of these places, and as much as I like playing really big shows, playing small clubs is the most fun you can possibly have playing (or watching) music," Lund shared in a statement.
"Plus it's important to get people into these rooms and to help rebuild business in some of the venues that have been suffering so much because of the pandemic," the songwriter added. "We want this thing to be a loud, sweaty, beer drinking party, so come out and help us make it happen. The whole point of this thing is to help everybody to remember how good music can feel. Old songs, new songs, it'll be a blast, I promise."
Tickets go on sale to the public November 26 at 10 a.m. local time, while a presale is currently accessible through Lund's official website using the code "WHISKEY." VIP packages are also available through Lund's website, featuring a pre-show acoustic performance and some limited-edition merch along with admission to your date of choice.
Lund delivered tenth studio album Agricultural Tragic in 2020, and treated it to a deluxe edition earlier this year. A press release notes that more new music from the songwriter is on the way in 2022.
