Cool

"U Dance Positive"

Apollo Ghosts spinoff Cool first launched earlier this year, but now they've already got four releases to their name. The latest is a split 7-inch lathe cut, and Cool's half of the single, "U Dance Positive," has emerged.

This track taps into the funky, danceable side of the group's output (rather than the indie rock side) with a bongo-bopping beat and a pillowy blanket of synth chords. Frontman Adrian Teacher's voice drifts distantly amidst a cloud of echo, while spoken word parts are contributed but computerized robo voices. It ends with an AutoTuned coda.

We've already heard the other half of this lathe cut, which comes via Julie Doiron's new band Weird Lines. The 7-inch is coming out for SappyFest, which runs from August 1 to 3 in Sackville, NB.
