Conor Oberst Featured in New Documentary

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Apr 8, 2009

Despite Conor Oberst's records being pretty open in the honesty department, we'll get to see him a bit more up close and personal in an upcoming documentary. Called One of My Kind, the film is due out on April 15 and, according to Oberst and his Mystic Valley Band, "traces the group's ever-growing bond as friends and collaborators."

The hour-long flick was filmed by the band's guitar tech, Phil Schaffart, over the last year-and-a-half, and will be released as a free stream or download at Causecast, IFC, Oberst's website and those of his labels, Merge and Wichita. And while you can watch it entirely free of charge, Oberst and his gang are urging fans to donate some cash to non-profits supported by Causecast, an online charity network.

Unfortunately there is no word yet on whether the film will show the origins of Mystic Valley Band's matching windbreakers.

As previously reported, the group's upcoming album, Outer South, is due out on May 5 via Merge. Also, they have a U.S. tour coming up.
