Common Deer

"Confession (I Should Have Known)"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 23, 2017

Ontario outfit Common Deer brings together two sets of siblings, a whole lot of multi-instrumentalist talent and a forward-thinking approach to making indie pop tunes. Their music blends Graham McLaughlin and Sheila Hart-Owens' lyricism with the rest of the band's objective to present classical instrumentation in an exciting, accessibly way — a dynamic showcased on the group's upcoming debut EP, I.

Ahead of the EP's arrival, the band have shared the single "Confession (I Should Have Known)." Lush, sweeping and melodic, the song weaves between string-heavy melancholy and uplifting, orchestral bursts of brightness.

I is officially out on January 27, and Common Deer will play Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern as part of the Exclaim!-presented Class of 2017 concert series the following night.
